68% of Americans Aware of Risks With Cryptocurrencies

Nordvpn’s new study has revealed that nearly seven in ten Americans surveyed believed they knew about the risks associated with cryptocurrency. Only 32% of respondents were aware of any potential risks with cryptocurrencies.

Understanding Cryptocurrencies

A new Nordvpn study has revealed that 68% of participants in the study were fully aware of the potential risks associated with cryptocurrency. This is according to the results of the study. A similar number of respondents (69%) also understood what cryptocurrency was.

The majority of Americans surveyed expressed concern about the possibility that cryptocurrencies would “become the standard for online shopping” despite being well-versed in the subject.

The study also revealed that 59% of respondents knew that trading platforms and exchanges could be hacked. Around 57% of respondents said they knew about the possibility of account takeovers, while 56% were aware that phishing emails and texts could alert them to a possible change in funds.

The report praised the high levels of crypto awareness and said that “the better informed consumers are, the more they will be able to protect themselves.”

A troubling trend

However, 32% of the 1,000 participants in the survey did not know about the risks. This is a worrying sign that there may be a larger trend.

The report stated that “The real problem is that many people in America and elsewhere have poor understandings of online risks in general.”

According to the report, cryptocurrency holders and internet users are urged to make stronger passwords. These are often the only thing that can stop hackers from accessing our internet accounts.
